Longhair Chihuahua
The longhair chihuahua can be viewed on most picture sites featuring dogs.
These dogs are very healthy, vivacious and long-lived. Their life span averages 15-17 years, and they rarely suffer from genetic disorders. However, they are susceptible to respiratory diseases and rheumatism. These dogs often have wheezing breath and can snore; some species are prone to hiccups. The dog descended from the ancient Techichi dog, which was considered to be a sacred animal and was involved in rites. The modern species might have been produced by crossing the Techichi dog with some other canine brought along by Asian immigrants.

There exist two varieties of this breed: longcoats and smoothcoats, but in some countries they are considered to be separate breeds, but not crossbreeds. In the USA, puppies of different size and coat type can occur in one and the same litter. The breed is easily recognized by its well rounded head and a short tiny muzzle with large eyes and ears. A variety of shades and patterns is permissible in this breed. In Mexico, jet black dogs are preferred, in the USA solid fawn color is preferable.
