It should be noted that Chihuahuas are very fragile and delicate, and hence are not recommended for young or poorly behaved children. They can be hard to housebreak, because they can be willful and stubborn at times. Training is only feasible through positive reinforcement. Rough training does not work with Chihuahuas. These dogs are great barkers, but they can and must be taught not to do so, because they may become extremely vocal in adulthood. They do okay without a yard, but appreciate space and freedom indoors and should not be cloistered. They are great travelers and love to accompany their owners on long trips.
